Security Industry Association to Present Inaugural Sports Security Innovator Award at NCS4 Conference
Silver Spring, Md. (PRWEB) June 06, 2017 -- Dave Tynan of Axis Communications will be honored in July as the inaugural recipient of the Sports Security Innovator Award, to be presented by the Security Industry Association (SIA) at the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) annual conference.
Tynan, who is currently Axis’ business area director for the mid-Atlantic region, played a key role in the establishment of NCS4 at the University of Southern Mississippi. He worked closely with Lou Marciani, who has served as the center’s director since its founding in 2006, to develop what would become the nation’s first academic center dedicated to spectator sports safety and security research, professional development, training and outreach.
“Dave brought high levels of vision, passion and expertise to this project at a time when all of those things were needed to get the center launched, and he has continued to support and contribute to NCS4’s efforts to enhance the safety and security of spectators since then,” Marciani said. “This award represents the highest achievement in advancing sports security technology, and we could not have picked a better first recipient.”
Tynan expressed appreciation to the two organizations for the award.
“It is an honor and a privilege to have been chosen for the first Sports Security Innovator Award,” Tynan said. “I’d like to thank both SIA and NCS4 for this tremendous recognition. It’s been rewarding to be part of an ecosystem that provides curriculum, technology adoption and a positive fan experience.”
The award is to be presented by SIA as part of its strategic partnership with NCS4.
“Dave is a long-time friend of SIA, and we are pleased to have the opportunity to recognize his leadership in the industry,” SIA CEO Don Erickson said. “His work with NCS4 demonstrates how members of the security industry and security practitioners can work together to accomplish great things.”
The Sports Security Innovator Award is presented to an employee of a SIA member company who:
• Demonstrates innovation by developing next-generation solutions to sports safety and security challenges
• Promotes scholarship and advances best practices for ensuring the safety and security of participants, spectators and staff at sporting events
• Advocates for the highest levels of professionalism in the securing of sports venues
The award will be presented at NCS4’s National Sports Safety and Security Conference and Exhibition, which will be held in Orlando July 11-13.
