SEG Measurement Brings Together Task Force on Effectiveness Research for Educational Products and Services
New York, NY (PRWEB) September 24, 2013 -- SEG Measurement Announces Task Force on Effectiveness Research for Educational Products and Services
Blue Ribbon Panel formed to help school administrators and school buyers make informed buying decisions based on proven effectiveness.
SEG Measurement (http://www.segmeasurement.com) announced today, from the floor of the EdNet Conference, the formation of a Task Force charged with developing guidelines for use by school buyers in evaluating instructional products and services based on efficacy research results.
Millions of dollars of educational products and services are purchased by states, districts and schools every year. The Task Force was assembled to combat the fact that while many of purchasing decisions are well informed, far too many purchases of instructional materials are made based on limited evidence of product efficacy.
“Our children deserve to receive instruction using proven solutions—products and services that have been shown through sound research to have a positive impact on learning and other educational outcomes.” said Scott Elliot, President of SEG Measurement and Chair of the Task Force.
The Task Force will produce Guidelines for school buyers to use in evaluating product effectiveness and interpreting efficacy research. These Guidelines will assist school buyers in evaluating the efficacy of educational products and services and to make informed buying decisions.
“With fewer dollars available to schools for instructional materials, ensuring that purchased materials are backed by technically sound efficacy research becomes even more critical.” Elliot said. ”Schools are looking for proven solutions and are less willing to accept unproven claims of effectiveness from sellers. Now they will be better armed with the knowledge to make better decisions.”
