Self-help Book Uses Positive Psychology to Look Beyond Cancer Diagnosis

In her book, Mackey draws on her personal experience with cancer and treatments over two years. She had five months of chemotherapy, a mastectomy, radiotherapy and reconstructive surgery. Mackey says that she was able to draw upon her knowledge of positive psychology and people around her. “Positive Oncology” intertwines her experience with cancer with psychology strategies for positivity, discussion of mind-body connections and various ancient cultures’ wisdom to offer a guide designed to enhance coping skills.
