SelfLube Adds Alloy Steel L-Gibs and Square Gibs to its Product Line
Coopersville, MI (PRWEB) July 30, 2013 -- SelfLube, the leading US manufacturer of mold and die components, is once again expanding its product line. The new products are alloy steel L-gibs and square gibs.
A gib is a mechanical component that is used to guide and control linear movement in a mold, die or special machine. SelfLube has been manufacturing gibs made of aluminum bronze for many years. Now, its customers will have the option of having the exact same gib, with the exact same dimensions and tolerances, made of alloy steel.
"Traditionally gibs are made of bronze, because bronze has a peculiar property known as formability, which is the tendency to reshape itself along the axis of motion thus providing freer movement and much better resistance to galling and wear," explains SelfLube owner Phil Allor. "SelfLube uses aluminum bronze, one of the best bearing bronzes available. But, certain applications, such as those in which particularly heavy loads are encountered, may require something stronger. Then alloy steel would be the appropriate material."
Up until now an alloy steel gib would be a custom part, which would be more expensive and would require a longer lead time. But, now alloy steel gibs are a standard product - available right out of the catalog with no additional cost or lead time. This is just another way that SelfLube is out there constantly looking for ways to save its customers time and money. These new products will appear in the company's online catalog immediately and in the next revised printed catalog, scheduled for November 1st.
SelfLube has been in business for 23 years and is the leading US manufacturer of mold and die components. It serves the mold, die and special machine shops throughout the US, Canada and now in Mexico. Its product line consists of over 8,000 standard part numbers, many of which are self-lubricating and include bushings, wear plates, parting line locks and many others.
