Seminole County Starts E-recording with Simplifile
SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. (PRWEB) February 19, 2015 -- Electronic recording (e-recording) in Seminole County is now available through Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service, enabling faster, more cost-effective recording of land documents and records.
With Simplifile’s online recording service now available in Seminole County, customers including title companies, banks, attorneys, and lien filers will be able to electronically submit documents to the clerk’s office and have them recorded in minutes.
Central Florida Title in Lake Mary, Fla., one the county’s local submitters, was the first to take advantage of the newly available service at the Seminole Clerk and Comptroller’s office and successfully e-recorded the first document with the county using Simplifile.
“We’ve been using Simplifile for a little over two years now and couldn’t be happier,” said Stephanie Oubre, a licensed title agent at Central Florida Title. “I couldn’t wait until we were finally able to file electronically in our immediate county of Seminole, and now we will be able to save time and money. This process is truly ‘simple to file,’ and from an insurance agent point of view, the ‘gap’ exposure is drastically reduced – actually, it’s almost non-existent. I don’t know why anyone would want to risk their clients’ first lien position and send in a recording via mail.”
Because the documents are submitted electronically, title companies and other submitters no longer have to rely on the mail or worry about mailing delays, and any original, paper documents remain in their possession.
With Simplifile’s service, customers are also able to track and view the status of their documents that have been submitted to Seminole County, giving them the ability to quickly correct and resubmit any rejected documents.
“We’re excited to bring this e-recording technology to Seminole County and to their submitters, many of which have been anxious to start e-recording,” said Paul Clifford, president of Simplifile. “The cost-savings on paper and mailing expenses alone are major benefits to both the clerk’s office and its customers.”
Recording fees and payments can also be processed electronically through Simplifile using Automated Clearing House, eliminating check-writing expenses.
High-speed Internet access, a PC, and a scanner are the minimum requirements for customers to begin e-recording with Simplifile.
Seminole County is the 42nd Florida e-recording county and joins more than 1,190 recording jurisdictions nationwide that also e-record with Simplifile.
