Senator Rand Paul to Headline Constitution Day Event on 9/15/2016 at National Archives
Washington DC (PRWEB) September 13, 2016 -- On Thursday, September 15th, one of the more fascinating voices in Congress, Senator Rand Paul will participate in an event that highlights the current and future state of our constitutional republic at a moment defined by intensifying political polarization.
The Millennial Action Project (MAP), in partnership with James Madison's Montpelier, is hosting a now sold-out conversation with Senator Rand Paul, and will present the 10th Annual State of the Constitution as the National Archives plays host to over 300 young people signed up to participate.
"We believe this event, and the conversation that will take place, provides an opportunity to elevate our national discourse and show how bipartisan efforts can revitalize our politics and government bringing forward next generation leadership," said Steve Olikara, Co-Founder and President of Millennial Action Project. "After all, many of the founders of this country were of Millennial age when they drafted our Constitution, including James Madison," Olikara explained.
This year, Millennials will make up nearly 31% of the electorate, and this conversation will provide a unique opportunity to further gauge the priorities of young voters. The discussion will be led by Doug Smith, Vice President of James Madison’s Montpelier, along with Steven Olikara, Co-Founder and President of MAP.
This is the second year MAP and Montpelier are partnering to highlight millennial efforts to engage in civic leadership and to advocate for a bipartisan approach to the protection of civil liberties. The Constitution Day event coincides with MAP’s third anniversary. Footage from last years’ event can be found here.
