Senior Housing News Announces 2017 Architecture and Design Awards Nominees
CHICAGO (PRWEB) November 21, 2017 -- Senior Housing News, an Aging Media Network publication, is pleased to announce the nominees for the fifth-annual Senior Housing News (SHN) Architecture & Design Awards.
More than 80 communities nationwide submitted their new construction and renovation projects for consideration in this year's contest, sponsored exclusively by senior living furniture provider Kwalu. The entrants are vying for top honors across 10 categories this year: Affordable, Assisted Living, Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), Independent Living, International, Renovation / Repositioning, Skilled Nursing / Post-Acute Care, Stand Alone Memory Care, and Student Exhibition (Architecture) and Student Exhibition (Interior Design).
"The SHN Architecture & Design Awards always draws in some of the most exciting projects in senior housing from across the U.S. and around the world. The senior living owners, operators and developers that work with the architects and designers are bringing buildings to life," said George Yedinak, founder of Senior Housing News.
Projects will be judged by a panel of industry experts who will evaluate nominees based on design and aesthetic criteria. Not only will judges analyze design elements such as color, light and landscape architecture, but they will also consider community functionality by analyzing key features that are critical to property type, such as universal design techniques. Winners will be announced December 12, 2017.
"Kwalu is thrilled to once again support the Senior Housing News Architecture & Design Awards that showcases excellence and innovation in senior living design. Each year the competition highlights the stories and images of these communities and the professionals that put these projects together and the entries this year are spectacular. The design and architecture professionals continue to elevate the industry with their thoughtful work to help older adults live better," said Kwalu CEO Michael Zusman. Kwalu is the exclusive sponsor of the 2017 SHN Architecture & Design Awards.
