Senior HR Professionals from Tri-state Area Companies Fulfill Children’s Holiday Wishes
Parsippany, NJ (PRWEB) December 18, 2013 -- To mark the holiday season, Mike Kahrer, SHRAB member and VP of HR at Luitpold Pharmaceuticals, Inc., proposed to fellow SHRAB members that they might do something to give back to the community. Andy O’Connor, AJO President and founder of the SHRAB, currently serves on the Board of Cornerstone Family Programs (formerly Family Services of Morris County). Andy and his team identified Cornerstone Family Program’s Neighborhood House as a worthy recipient. Morristown Neighborhood House is a nonprofit organization that provides programs in Morristown, Dover, Denville and Frelinghuysen Middle School in NJ. In a typical day, over 1,500 infants and preschoolers; children and youth from elementary school through high school; and adults of all ages receive services through Neighborhood House.
SHRAB members elected to purchase a gift from a wish list put together by first grade boys and girls, ages 6 and 7 attending Morristown Neighborhood House. The last of the gifts were collected at SHRAB’s year end meeting and social event at the beginning of this month. Andy O’Connor and Alice Yoson from AJO presented the SHRAB members’ gift contributions to Neighborhood House in time for the children’s holiday party.
SHRAB member Mike Kahrer noted that, “We understand that most of the Morristown Neighborhood House children are from families whose parents are financially disadvantaged. SHRAB was founded on the principal of sharing with fellow professionals. This was an opportunity to share our blessings with those in need. I know I can speak for all SHRAB members when I say how satisfying it is to play a role in making the holiday wishes of these first graders a reality.”
Andy O’Connor commented, “We were delighted when Mike Kahrer floated this idea. Connecting the needs of Cornerstone Family Programs with the goals of the SHRAB was a perfect way to conclude a celebratory year at AJO and one in which the central theme was giving back to the community.”
