Senior Independence Providing Summer Fun for Hospice Patients
Willoughby, Ohio (PRWEB) July 28, 2016 -- On Wednesday, August 3, Senior Independence Home Health and Hospice will host a summer picnic for hospice patients, their families and caregivers at the Osbourne Community Plaza, located on the campus of Breckenridge Village, a not-for-profit continuing care retirement community. Some home health patients and residents of Breckenridge Village will also participate. The event will include a lunch of hot dogs, cotton candy and popcorn, along with a presentation of animals by Jungle Terry.
The summer picnic is part Senior Independence’s Make it Happen program, a program where the organization works to bring special moments of joy and meaning to those nearing the end of their lives by fulfilling their life-enhancing wishes. “The hospice team wanted to do a larger scale Make it Happen to include as many patients as possible,” explained Cayla Lettenberger, MSW, LSW, hospice social worker for Senior Independence. “We have invited some loved ones of patients that recently passed, current hospice patients and their caregivers, our veteran clients, and a couple of home health patients. Our staff is excited to focus on quality of life and enjoy a fun afternoon together!”
The summer picnic will hopefully bring lasting memories and joy to patients and their families during a difficult time.
