Sensory Processing Disorder Foundation Announces the 16th International SPD Symposium in Charlotte, North Carolina
Denver, Colorado (PRWEB) September 27, 2013 -- The 16th International 3S Symposium, SPD: Strategies, Science, and Success, hosted by the Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) Foundation in partnership with Sensory World will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina on October 25-26, 2013.
This two-day symposium will have two tracks each day, covering material beneficial to both parents and professionals who diagnose, treat, and teach children with sensory challenges and their parents. SPD is a neurological disorder that disrupts the way an individual processes and responds to sensations. A person with SPD usually has difficulty with social interactions, emotion and behavior regulation, and/or motor performance. SPD affects daily activities and relationships impairing quality of life and includes the sensory challenges associated with attention deficit disorders (ADD and ADHD), autistic spectrum disorders, anxiety disorders, emotional and behavioral disorders, learning disorders, and other developmental issues.
The very latest findings in SPD research, strategies for practical therapeutic intervention, and successful implementation programs will be presented by an extensive panel of experts. Among the presenters are Dr. Lucy Jane Miller and Dr. Sarah A. Schoen of the SPD Foundation, Dr. Kay Toomey of STAR Center, Dr. Barry Stein of Wake Forest School of Medicine, Dr. Stephen Camarata of Vanderbilt University, Dr. Zachary Rosenthal of Duke University and several other experts in the field of SPD.
