Serena Ryder ‘Performance in the Park’ Rescheduled for September 21 in Banff
Banff National Park, Alberta (PRWEB) July 05, 2013 -- Serena Ryder, Canadian songstress and four-time Juno Award-winning artist known for her powerful vocal range and this year’s runaway hit Stompa, has announced that she will perform at Banff National Park’s rescheduled ‘Performance in the Park’ September 21.
Originally sold-out and scheduled for June 22, Banff’s popular fourth-annual outdoor concert was cancelled on June 21 when extreme weather conditions and subsequent flooding in southern Alberta prevented the bands and ticket holders alike from accessing the park.
Ryder announced she would like to return to perform in Banff National Park as the event is considered a highlight of her summer schedule.
The September 21 performance will take place at 3 p.m. in Banff’s Cascade Gardens and a portion of ticket sales will be donated to the provincial flood relief efforts. Tickets purchased for the original June 22 performance are valid for the new date. Ticket holders who are unable to attend on the new date can return their tickets to the same vendor at which they were purchased for a full refund.
New tickets for the September 21 performance will be available for purchase from July 10 at 12 p.m. via The Banff Centre Box Office and Ticketmaster.
“Performance in the Park has become one of the most beloved events of the year in Banff National Park,” said Stu Back of Banff Lake Louise Tourism. “We’re very pleased to be able to follow through with our commitment to the many fans of both the event and Serena Ryder.”
Supporting acts Coeur de Pirate and Said The Whale were previously scheduled to perform as part of the original concert and have yet to confirm their availability for the new date.
Ryder’s most recent album, Harmony, was released in 2012 and is being praised as the boldest of her career to date, earning her a fourth Juno Award for Best Adult Alternative Album of the Year in April.
Performance in the Park, produced in partnership with Parks Canada, The Banff Centre and Banff Lake Louise Tourism, was introduced in 2010 to celebrate the destination’s mountain heritage and the importance of protected places in Canada.
