Serenity Recovery at the 2016 Recovery Palooza Support Networking Event
Marne, Michigan (PRWEB) January 16, 2017 -- Anybody who may be looking for a substance abuse rehabilitation program with a different approach might be interested in a new video released by Serenity Recovery, a holistic treatment center for addiction located in Marne, MI. This video, which can be viewed on the Serenity Recovery YouTube channel, features footage and testimonials from patients and staff that visited the 2016 Recovery Palooza support event in nearby Grand Rapids.
“Of all the things that will help a person overcoming addiction, a strong support network is probably the most important,” commented Serenity Recovery founder Per Wickstrom. “The annual Recovery Palooza event is a great place for our patients to see that there are lots of other people out there who are going through the exact same thing, and that they are not ever alone. Plus, the Recovery Palooza event brings many different groups and organizations together to inform people about the different options that they have in recovery.”
Justin Black, the Patient Support Services director for Serenity, organizes day trips for patients throughout their time at the treatment center. “We got together, we danced, we had music, different people talking about their recovery,” he said about the trip to Ah Nad Awen Park, where Recovery Palooza is held. “It really showed what it’s like to have a new life. It showed them that you can have fun and be happy, it’s not as miserable as everyone thinks. You can take drugs and alcohol out of your life and it be ok.”
Sherri R is a patient at Serenity who went to the Recovery Palooza event with Justin and other patients, where she found many useful tools for her sobriety. “Going to Recovery Palooza was really an empowering experience,” she said. “Networking for after you get better, that was the key for me. Seeing all those people, all these different organizations, all in one spot, it was encouraging. It’s equipping you with knowledge you wouldn’t otherwise have. Equip, empower, and encourage – that’s what Recovery Palooza and Serenity does.”
