Server Mania Announces New Dedicated Servers Based on the 8-core Intel Xeon D-1540 Processor
Toronto, ON (PRWEB) July 31, 2015 -- Server Mania, an industry-leading dedicated and cloud hosting provider, has announced a new product line based on the Intel Xeon D-1500 series processor family, which provides the processing power of the 14nm Broadwell architecture and is ideal for a variety of workloads such as dynamic web serving, dedicated web hosting, warm storage, and network routing.
The Xeon D-1500 series represents Intel’s first Xeon-based System on a Chip, and includes integrated I/O circuitry and networking.
Server Mania customers can buy dedicated servers based on the 8-core Intel Xeon D-1540 processor. The base server configuration includes 32GB RAM, and one 1 TB SATA drive or one 120 GB solid-state drive. Customers can upgrade their storage at any time and add memory to a maximum of 128GB. Customers can also select a chassis model with four hard drive bays.
The Xeon D-1540 draws 45W of power, and has a base speed of 2.0GHz, all core turbo speed of 2.5GHz, and one core turbo speed of 2.6GHz.
Benchmark testing shows massive performance gains compared to the 8-core Intel Atom C2750 processor. The Intel Xeon D-1540 performed 78% better on the STREAM OpenMP benchmark for memory bandwidth, and 163% better on the SPEC CPU 2006 which measures intensive compute capabilities. In a test of its dynamic web serving capabilities, Xeon D-1500 series processors performed 240% better than the Intel Atom C2750, meaning more users can be served simultaneously without performance degradation.
