Seton Hall Law Launches Online LL.M. Degree in Financial Services Compliance
Newark, N.J. (PRWEB) May 25, 2016 -- Seton Hall Law has launched a new Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in Financial Services Compliance. This new degree will be offered online, although students are also free to take traditional classes at the Law School.
“Compliance remains the fastest-growing area in the financial services industry, offering new opportunities for attorneys with specialized knowledge of financial services law and compliance,” said Timothy P. Glynn, Associate Dean for Graduate and Professional Education and leader of the Law School’s Division of Online Learning. “Seton Hall Law’s LL.M. degree enables practicing attorneys to acquire this knowledge and compliance-related skills with the convenience of an online program.”
Seton Hall Professor Stephen Lubben, a nationally renowned corporate finance scholar and writer for the New York Times Dealbook, sees demand for attorneys with compliance expertise remaining strong for the foreseeable future: “Not only are the components of the Dodd-Frank Act continuing to roll out, but enforcement under this and other applicable laws also has become more focused on financial institutions’ compliance efforts. These institutions have responded by enhancing their compliance infrastructure, which, in turn, creates new opportunities for attorneys with demonstrated expertise, whether in a counseling capacity outside or in-house, or working in compliance departments and consulting firms.”
The LL.M. degree in Financial Services Compliance provides an in-depth examination of key aspects of the law governing financial institutions. Courses include Securities Law and Compliance, Corporate Finance, Regulating Funds and Investment Advisers, Regulating Broker-Dealers, Financial Crimes Compliance, and Cybersecurity and Privacy: Law, Policy, and Compliance.
The new degree builds on Seton Hall Law’s national leadership in compliance, as it continues to offer more compliance-related education and training programs than any other law school in the nation. Additional compliance programs include a Juris Doctor with a concentration in Compliance as well as an online Master of Science in Jurisprudence (MSJ) degrees and graduate certificates with concentrations in Financial Services Compliance, Health and Hospital Law, Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Law & Compliance, and Intellectual Property Law available online for non-lawyer professionals working in highly regulated environments. Seton Hall Law also offers live one-week Healthcare Compliance Certification programs conducted several times a year in locations around the globe, including Newark, San Francisco, Paris, and Singapore. Finally, the newly launched online LL.M. degree in Financial Services Compliance complements already existing LL.M. degrees in Health Law,which can now be taken in online, live, or hybrid formats, and Intellectual Property Law.
