Seton has been saving lives of youth in Hampton Roads for over 35 years, and Seton's Kentucky Derby Party has been raising tens of thousands of dollars to fulfill its mission to save lives and build futures for 20 years in a row. Join 300 of the area's most festive and philanthropically-minded guests on May 4th, 2019 for a spring celebration of all things "Derby" to benefit Seton Youth Shelters. The 20th Annual Kentucky Derby Party, "A Silks & Irons Soirée", held at the beautiful and scenic Back Bay Farms in the Pungo area of Virginia Beach, is an exciting and elegant evening celebrating the 145th running of the Kentucky Derby.
Guests will enjoy a giant screen, live broadcast of the Run for the Roses at Churchill Downs, authentic mint juleps from the Julep Bar, a Belle Isle Moonshine bar, specialty cocktail bars, lawn games, cuisine from provided by Baker's Crust, live horse races, beer provided by Wasserhund Brewery, wine from local vintners, an outstanding silent auction, and much more. All of the fun and festivities support Seton's shelter, mentoring and street outreach programs, which reach thousands of Hampton Roads' youth each year.
Seton's 20th Annual Platinum Kentucky Derby Celebration, "A Silks & Irons Soirée" begins at 5 p.m. with raffles and other activities as guests settle in. After post-time of the 145th Run for the Roses, the renowned Kentucky Derby Race, H M Johnson Band will perform until the events wraps up at 10 p.m. Guests can spend the evening dancing, sipping cocktails, sampling fabulous Baker's Crust cuisine, and participating in all of the fabulous features this event has to offer. Space is limited and general admission tickets are $120. General admission tickets include food, juleps & specialty cocktails, beer & wine, viewing of the live race on a large screen, live turf horse races, access to the silent auction and lawn games. VIP tickets are $225, and include everything General Admission offers plus access to the VIP lounge, wine & bourbon tasting, and reserved seating.
Seton Youth Shelters is the region's only organization devoted exclusively to providing shelter, street outreach and mentoring services to youth 9-17. When you raise your glass and spend an on May 4th, 2019, know that you are helping Seton Youth Shelters, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, fulfill its mission of providing safe haven, counseling and outreach services, 24 hours a day, without charge, to assist youth in crisis throughout Hampton Roads, with the goal of reuniting families.
Each year hundreds of boys and girls, ages 9-17, arrive at our two Virginia Beach residential shelters—often in the middle of the night, sometimes with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Our professional staff welcomes them with food, shelter, clothing, school supplies and the counseling and support necessary for them to either return to their families or continues on to another safe, home environment. Seton's Street Outreach Program vans, operated by our professional staff teams, drive the streets of our region, reaching out to thousands of youth on the streets, offering food, hygiene items, counseling, and shelter options--a lifeline for this vulnerable population. Our Mentoring Children of Prisoners program gives children of incarcerated parents the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to reach their full potential.
