Seven Greenberg Traurig Florida Attorneys To Speak At Florida Chamber of Commerce’s 28th Annual Environmental Permitting Summer School
MIAMI (PRWEB) July 21, 2014 -- Seven attorneys from the Florida offices of international law firm Greenberg Traurig will serve as instructors for the Florida Chamber of Commerce’s 28th annual “Environmental Permitting Summer School.” The program will take place July 22-25 at the Marco Island Marriott Resort & Golf Club, 400 S. Collier Boulevard, Marco Island, Fla., 34145.
The four-day continuing education program, produced in cooperation with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, is designed for elected officials, architects, engineers, property appraisers, builders, and other professionals in real estate, environmental consulting, government and law. The program’s courses will cover a variety of topics including water policy, regulatory updates, environmental permitting, enforcement trends, planning transportation corridors, growth management, and environmental due diligence.

Kerri L. Barsh, Shareholder in the firm’s Miami office and Co-Chair of the firm’s National Environmental Practice, will give an overview of some top current responses to climate change and sea level rise. Chris Bell, Shareholder in the Environmental Practice of the firm’s Houston office, will discuss land development in environmentally sensitive areas and strategies for avoiding related litigation. Julie P. Kendig-Schrader, Shareholder in the Environmental Practice of the firm’s Orlando office, will discuss current trends in federal environmental regulation and enforcement. Maribel N. Nicholson-Choice, Shareholder in the Environmental Practice of the firm’s Tallahassee office, will review the progress of the Florida Brownfields Program since it was enacted 15 years ago. Christopher Torres, Administrative Shareholder of the firm’s Tampa office and a Shareholder in the office’s Litigation Practice will present on innovatioins in planning, zoning and development. David B. Weinstein, Managing Shareholder of the firm’s Tampa office and Chair of the Environmental & Toxic Torts Litigation Practice, will share insights on how to defend a permit against legal assaults.
