South Orange, NJ (PRWEB) July 22, 2015 -- The Seton Hall University Board of Trustees has voted to add seven new members to the Board of Regents, one of the university's top governing bodies. The new Regents jointly bring decades of experience, expertise and knowledge in the fields of business, finance, health care, higher education and religion to the 43-member board. They will help guide the university through a time of significant expansion, which includes the university’s new College of Communication and the Arts and the development of a new School of Medicine in partnership with Hackensack University Health Network. Each new member of the Board of Regents will serve a three-year term, which expires on June 30, 2018.

“I join the rest of the board in welcoming our new Regents. Each of them brings unique talents and skills that will strengthen Seton Hall’s forward momentum,” said University President A. Gabriel Esteban. “I look forward to their expertise and guidance as we collectively work to advance the University to greater heights.”

The new regents are:

Ryan K. Duffy ’93 is First Vice President and Resident Director – Wealth Management Advisor for Merrill Lynch. He joined Merrill Lynch in 1994 and holds several professional designations including: Chartered Private Wealth Advisor (CPWA), Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC). Duffy has a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication with a minor in business administration from Seton Hall University. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus in Ramsey, N.J., and the Society of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick in New York. Duffy joins the Board of Regents as an ex officio member by virtue of his role as President of the Board of Directors of the University’s Alumni Association.

James O’Brien ’82 is a Senior Managing Partner of Napier Park Global Capital. He was previously Co-CEO of Citi Capital Advisors, the former parent of Napier Park. O’Brien was a co-founder, in 2005, of the specialized asset management firm Carlton Hill Global Capital. Before that, he spent 19 years at Morgan Stanley in the Fixed Income Division, holding numerous senior management positions. He began his career at Merrill Lynch in the Unit Investment Trust Division. O’Brien has been honored with service and humanitarian awards from Team Walker, Inner City Education Foundation and Seton Hall University. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Seton Hall and previously served on the University’s Board of Regents from July 2006 to June 2013.

Robert Sloan, M.B.A. ’86, is AT&T Vice President – Public Safety Solutions, located in Bedminster, N.J. In his current role, he is responsible for AT&T’s strategic design, development and execution efforts in support of federal, state and local first responders. In his 28 years with AT&T, Sloan also has served in various leadership and management roles, including creating AT&T’s electronic sales and customer care channels, and has been recognized by CIO Magazine with their “Enterprise Value Award,” One to One Marketing Magazine as an “Executive to Watch” and IQ Magazine as a “Leader in Internet Business.” He holds a bachelor’s degree in government and education from Curry College and an MBA in finance from Seton Hall University. He currently serves on the boards of Team Walker and Pullman Performing Arts Center, and has served on the Newmark School Foundation and Center for Hope Hospice boards.    

Sister Margaret Stallmeyer, C.D.P., works as an advocate and judge in the marriage tribunal of the Diocese of Covington, Ky. after recently retiring as Special Assistant to the President and Interim Director of the Urban Metro Campus of Gateway Community and Technical College as well as Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Previously, Sister Margaret served for 10 years as President of Thomas More College in Crestview Hills, Ky., where she oversaw the addition of 10 new baccalaureate programs and a 20 percent increase in enrollment. Sister Margaret entered the convent in 1962. In 1968, she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics and secondary education from Thomas More College; in 1972, she received a Master of Education degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati; and in 1987, she obtained a degree in canon law from Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C. She is an active member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Association of Colleges and Universities, the Council of Independent Colleges and the Canon Law Society of America.

John F. Swift ’60 is the retired Chief Executive Officer of Omnicom Health and Medical Communications, a leading global advertising and marketing company. He rose through the ranks of the health care communications industry after beginning his advertising career in the 1960s. Swift was new product manager at Chesebrough-Ponds before joining L.W. Frohlich as a vice president in 1968. He started his own agency, Lavey/Wolff/Swift in 1972. It merged with BBDO, a leading consumer agency, in 1977 with Swift serving as Chairman/CEO of the new health care marketing group BBDO/HMC. He earned his Bachelor of Science in marketing from Seton Hall University. Swift is the co-founder of the Biomedical Marketing Association and is the former president of the Pharmaceutical Advertising Council. In retirement, Swift remains active with volunteer work, including serving as a member of the Seton Hall University Advisory Council and the Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology’s Board of Overseers.

Matthew W. Wright ’89 is the Founder and President of Disciplina Group LLC, which includes Disciplina Advisors, a risk consultancy firm, and Disciplina Capital Management, an investment advisory firm. He was the Vice Chancellor for Investments and Chief Investment Officer of Vanderbilt University for five years, leading a 20-person team responsible for investment oversight of the university’s $3.9 billion long-term portfolio. Before that, Wright was the Director of Investments at Emory University for more than six years. Wright has also worked for Bank of America Capital Management’s Quantitative Strategies Group as a portfolio manager and Xerox Corporation’s Trust Investments department as an investment analyst. He received a bachelor’s degree in finance from Seton Hall University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Rochester in 1991. He is a member of the CFA Institute, and Former Trustee and Investment Committee Chair for The Ensworth School in Nashville. Wright has been a featured speaker, moderator and panelist at industry conferences. In 2006, he was featured in the Chicago Mercantile Exchange Group’s global advertisement campaign, which appeared in periodicals such as Barron’s, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today and Institutional Investor magazine.

Leo J. Zatta ’78/M.B.A. ’84/M.S. ’86 is Chief Financial Officer of RD Legal Funding, LLC, which provides plaintiffs’ attorneys with innovative post-settlement funding cash flow solutions. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, a Master of Business Administration in finance and a Master of Science in taxation from the Stillman School of Business of Seton Hall University. He is licensed as a CPA in the states of New Jersey and Florida and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJSCPA). In addition, he is a Certified Fraud Examiner, a Certified Valuation Analyst and is Certified in Financial Forensics. Zatta is Chairman of the Board of Team Walker, a member of the Seton Hall University Advisory Committee and past president of the Board of Directors of the University’s Alumni Association. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of Advanced Community Health Services, former Treasurer of the Caldwell Republicans and a former member of the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan New Jersey Chapter of the American Red Cross.

The following will now serve as emeritus members of the Board of Regents:

Bill Aimetti ’66 retired in March 2011 from the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) where he had been President and Chief Operating Officer and member of DTCC’s Board of Directors. Prior to his elevation to President in 2007, Aimetti had served as the firm’s Chief Information Officer. Previously, he had leadership roles at Nomura Securities International, Citibank and the Chase Manhattan Bank. Aimetti holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Seton Hall University and a master’s degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business. He currently is affiliated with several technology organizations in India, St. Paul's Outreach in South Orange, N.J., and Overlook Hospital in Summit, N.J.

Thomas J. Sharkey, ‘54 is Chairman at Meeker Sharkey Associates. Prior to this, he was Chairman of Banc of America Corporate Insurance Agency, a subsidiary of Bank of America Corporation. While at Seton Hall University, he was an outstanding varsity baseball player and played professional baseball for two years with the Detroit Tigers after graduation. He later served two years in the United States Army and began his career in the insurance industry in 1958. Sharkey has served as a member of the Board of Regents at Seton Hall and was chair of Ever Forward: The Seton Hall Sesquicentennial Campaign. He and his wife Ruth personally committed time and resources to ensure that the campaign achieved its $150 million goal. Their $3.2 million gift to the campaign has advanced initiatives proposed by the deans of the Stillman School of Business, the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Diplomacy and International Relations. Sharkey also has served on the Trinitas Regional Medical Center board for more than 15 years. In 1986, he was awarded the Nicholas J. English Humanitarian Award for community service, and in 1994, he received the “Distinguished Alumnus of the Year” Award from the university’s Alumni Association.
