Seven-Year-Old Build-A-Thon Winner Visits Imagination Playground Park in New York City
(PRWEB) September 16, 2016 -- What might have been an ordinary day turned out to be quite special for 7-year-old Caden Yocom, who visited Imagination Playground Park for the first time this past summer. The trip to the lower Manhattan park was part of his winnings in Imagination Playground’s 2015 Build-A-Thon Contest.
Earlier in 2016, Imagination Playground announced Caden’s generous donation of the other part of his prize—an Imagination Playground Big Blue Blocks set—to his fellow students at Columbus Preparatory academy in Columbus, Ohio. Now, Caden was getting ready to build again, but this time in Imagination Playground’s famous flagship location.
“Welcome Caden, Build-A-Thon Grand Prize Winner!”—the huge sign welcomed Caden and his family, who were also greeted by Imagination Playground’s President, David Krishock. After introductions, Caden and his younger sister Bella joined in with local children for a morning of building.
When playtime was over, Caden offered his reactions. “This park is pretty cool,” he said. “I really like that there is sand and water here that you can play in. Also, there are block shapes here I haven't seen before.”
When asked if he’d visit the park every day if he lived in New York, Caden replied, “Only on weekends. I do go to school you know!”
After a pizza lunch, the family was escorted to Brooklyn Children’s Museum where they were given a private tour by Director of Exhibits and Interpretation, Hanna Elwell. Highlights included holding the museum's live iguanas, snakes, and other reptiles, and a visit to the museum’s Imagination Playground block area.
Commenting on his time spent with the Yocom’s, Mr. Krishock said, “It was a magical day and an honor to meet Caden and his family. Sharing the joy of creative play is what Imagination Playground is all about. I can’t wait to do this again with the next Grand Prize winner.”
Imagination Playground’s Build-A-Thon is an annual contest encouraging children to create with Imagination Playground Big Blue Blocks and submit images of their builds to win prizes. In addition to the Grand Prize, there are 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes for both physical and digital builds created with Imagination Playground’s 3D Builder mobile app. Over 500 prizes are available in all.
The 2016 Build-A-Thon is currently under way. Children can submit photos of as many physical builds or app screen designs as they like, between now and December 16, 2016.
