SGS International Forms Exclusive Partnership with Prime Label Consultants
LOUISVILLE, Ky (PRWEB) October 06, 2015 -- SGS International (SGS), a global leader in package production and related marketing services, announced today its exclusive partnership with Prime Label Consultants Inc. (PLC) of Washington, D.C. The partnership provides an unmatched resource for label creation and compliance in advance of proposed Food and Drug Administration changes to the Nutrition Facts Label.
The FDA’s anticipated modifications – expected to be finalized by the FDA in early 2016 – will be the most extensive nutrition policy changes to occur in decades. The goal of the SGS/PLC partnership is to create efficient systems and services to help the food industry comply with these new regulations while maintaining their brand value.
“SGS has created a meaningful partnership with PLC, the food-label industry’s most trusted regulatory and compliance experts,” said Marriott Winchester, executive vice president of SGS. “By combining PLC’s regulatory expertise with SGS’ design and graphic service capabilities, we will provide the education, planning and execution services that all consumer-product-goods companies, retailers and food and beverage manufactures need to guide them successfully through this generational food labeling change.”
While details are being finalized, anticipated changes to label information include emphasizing calories and added sugars, adjusting serving sizes and claims and incorporating a new graphic look. These changes will affect 25 years of packaging strategy and materially impact brand identity for food products.
In advance of these regulatory changes, food companies will need to anticipate and plan for this market-disrupting event. SGS and PLC will provide a variety of services aimed at preparing, educating and advising food and beverage manufactures regarding the implications and requirements of the pending legislation.
“Since 1972, PLC has been helping customers navigate the ever-evolving regulatory landscape to ensure compliant and accurate labels are created for their brands,” said Christina Bechtold, chief executive officer of PLC. “As we prepare for landmark FDA changes, we are excited by the opportunity to partner with SGS, and we are confident our combined competencies will offer customers unparalleled expertise and efficiency. This partnership is where creativity and compliance will meet, and we look forward to collaborating with SGS on the art and science of label design.”
