Rockville, MD (PRWEB) April 19, 2015 -- Shady Grove Fertility is proud to support and promote National Infertility Awareness Week® (NIAW) 2015 (April 19-25), a yearly initiative founded by RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association to enable people to act as their own infertility advocates and to educate legislators and the public about how infertility impacts the community.
In order to promote this year’s NIAW theme, You Are Not Alone, Shady Grove Fertility will conduct an orchestrated social media campaign and publish educational blogs and emails about infertility advocacy and support tips from the community. Shady Grove Fertility will also release an e-book in honor of NIAW comprised of patients sharing how they found support during their journey as well as their ideas for how we can collectively help to break the silence that often surrounds infertility.
NIAW is a significantly vital event, but it is only one of the many ways in which Shady Grove Fertility works throughout the year to spread awareness and support the infertility community. On May 14, 2015, Shady Grove Fertility physicians and staff will let their voices be heard on Advocacy Day, a RESOLVE event in which the community speaks with members of Congress to promote increased access to family building options and financial relief.
Shady Grove Fertility is also a Platinum Sponsor for RESOLVE’s 4th Annual Washington, D.C., Walk of Hope on June 6, 2015. The Walk of Hope provides the opportunity for the infertility community to come together to raise awareness and help fund support groups, public awareness initiatives, and legislative advocacy efforts.
With 1 in 8 couples experiencing infertility, it is important for the community to come together and present a unified front, spreading awareness and letting couples know that they have never been—and will never be—alone. Additionally, it is important that awareness exists regarding when to visit with a fertility specialist. Many people may not realize that they are experiencing infertility, but it is important to become educated and see a fertility specialist within 6 to 12 months of trying to conceive without success.
“We feel passionate about NIAW and strive to make a difference throughout the year in helping the community through our outreach efforts. By participating in RESOLVE’s many incredible initiatives, we are letting people know that we stand by their side and are there to provide resources and guidance on their journey,” said Patty Stull, VP of Strategic Development at Shady Grove Fertility.
