Sheltering Arms Celebrates “Everyday Heroes” At Their Annual Gala to Benefit Children and Families from New York City’s Under-Resourced Communities
New York, New York (PRWEB) March 28, 2017 -- On Wednesday, April 5th, Sheltering Arms will put the spotlight on the “Everyday Heroes” who help deserving children and families to maximize their potential. Sheltering Arms will host hundreds of the City’s leaders at the renowned IAC Building and honor Dalilah Muhammad, the United States’ first Muslim American gold medalist, and George Evans, the Chief Investment Officer for Equities at OppenheimerFunds.

Founded in 1831 to support the highest need immigrants arriving at Ellis Island, Sheltering Arms has a long history of sparking positive change for individuals and communities alike. On April 5th, the event will feature stories of everyday heroes – from youth to staff to philanthropists – who are creating a better, more just New York City. Leaders of all backgrounds will have the opportunity to “Sponsor a Future” by contributing to Sheltering Arms’ critical work in support of immigrants and disenfranchised children and families.

The event’s “Everyday Heroes” theme recognizes the value of people and organizations stepping up during times of need. In the past year, Sheltering Arms has been lauded for successfully responding to some of the City’s greatest challenges, such as leading a program that reduced gun violence by 47% in Far Rockaway. This year’s event is generously underwritten by some of the country’s premiere philanthropists and corporations, led by Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP and Gail Coleman & Saul Kupferberg.
