Sheraton Reston Hotel Hosts 104th Training Division’s Annual Awards Breakfast
Reston, VA (PRWEB) December 07, 2015 -- Yesterday, the Sheraton Reston Hotel hosted the 3rd Brigade of the 104th Training Division. Over 200 soldiers and their friends and family enjoyed this annual Holiday Meal. The hotel is managed by Crescent Hotels & Resorts, an operator of over 100 hotels throughout North America, including 16 in the Washington, DC area.
The Holiday Meal has been part of the 3rd Brigade since the unit formed in 2007. In past years, the events were held in the Army Reserve Center or at a USO venue and paid for by the soldiers who attended. However, because space for reservists is very competitive, and given to units on a first come first serve basis, there were no dates available for the brigade this year.
“When we heard that the 3rd Brigade did not have a venue for their annual Holiday Meal, not only did we offer our services, we also were proud to underwrite the entire cost of the event,” said Tim Bailey Complex General Manager of the Sheraton Reston Hotel and the adjacent Westin Reston Heights. “Our reservists do so much for us, we were honored to have them as our guests and sponsor the celebration of their dedication.”
The Holiday Meal is held to thank the families for their support and allow the unit to get to know one another as more than just soldiers. During a typical drill weekend the soldiers focus on training and readiness, often times there isn't a lot of time to get to know each-other. The Holiday Meal allows the brigade members to understand that soldiers and their families are all part of the same team. Without family support, what they do wouldn't be possible. This annual event is where the 3rd Brigade honors promotions, new soldiers and a farewell to any of those transferring out.
The 3rd Brigade focuses on professional development and is one of two brigades that fall under the 104th Training Division. The 104th Training Division focuses on leader training and is one of three divisions falling under the 108th Training Command. The 108th Division focuses on Initial Entry Training.
The Sheraton Reston Hotel also offers preferred rates for active and retired military, including reservists.
