Sheraton Tysons Hotel Gives Back to the Community … Again
TYSONS, VA (PRWEB) February 26, 2015 -- Last week team members from the Sheraton Tysons Hotel collected food for the Capital Area Food Bank helping to feed those in need in the Washington, DC area. Nearly 500 pounds of food were collected by the hotel via donations from guests and staff members. The hotel is managed by Crescent Hotels & Resorts which operates over 100 hotels throughout North American, including 16 hotels in the Washington, DC area.
“We feel it’s important that we, as a member of the Tysons community, give back whenever possible,” said Mike Chouri, General Manager of the Sheraton Tysons Hotel. “We are proud of all our guests and associates who donated to the food drive.” The hotel takes pride in helping out in community events. The hotel raised over $15,000 for the NOVA VIVA VETS 5K to support veterans in the Virginia area and participated in GO RED to promote awareness that heart disease is the number one killer of women in North America. Additionally the hotel donated to the ALS “bucket challenge” as well as many other causes. Most recently, the hotel teamed up with its sister hotels in the area to collect nearly 3,000 Toys for Tots for local kids.
The mission of the Capital Area Food Bank is to feed those who suffer from hunger in the Washington metro area by acquiring food and distributing it through its network of partner agencies. This food bank also focusses on educating, empowering and enlightening the community about the issues of hunger and nutrition. CAFB is a member of Feeding America, a national network of 200 food banks.
Other area hotels that joined in collecting food include: the Hyatt Fairfax at Fair Lakes, Westin Arlington Gateway, Westin Reston Heights and the Sheraton Reston Hotel.
