FORREST CITY, Ark. (PRWEB) February 11, 2015 -- When author Sherry Fisher’s daughter, Amanda, was born, the doctors explained that Amanda would have several mental and physical disabilities and advised Fisher on the special care her daughter would need. As Amanda grew up, Fisher noticed other children treating her differently and decided to do something about it.
Fisher’s book, “Amanda, Just the Way I Am” (published by AuthorHouse), which is kicking off a new marketing campaign in the second half of 2014, explains Amanda’s disabilities in Amanda’s own words, in an effort to help young readers better understand their classmates with disabilities.
“Amanda, Just the Way I Am” gently addresses some of the biggest differences Amanda sees in herself. She has a harder time seeing, hearing, speaking and running than most children, but even so, her family loves her just the way she is, a phrase that is repeated consistently throughout the text.
Throughout her book, Fisher educates children about disabilities and shows them that disabled children are not so different from themselves. She hopes to provide parents with a teaching tool.

so I can play basketball,
softball, run track and
compete in gymnastics.”
