Shimer College Celebrates Professor Aron Dunlap’s Recent Lecture at Chicago’s Co-op Seminary Bookstore
Chicago, Illinois (PRWEB) April 30, 2015 -- Shimer College is pleased to announce the success of Professor Aron Dunlap’s lecture on three of the 20th century’s most influential thinkers, Jacques Lacan, Hannah Arendt, and Paul Tillich at Chicago’s Co-op Seminary Bookstore on March 27th.
The lecture entitled, Are we Still Living in the Age of Anxiety? Lacan in Dialogue with Tillich and Arendt explores conceptualizations of anxiety by theologians, intellectuals and psychoanalysts, how we “live” with anxiety today, and its role in the American political experience. Before an enthusiastic audience, Professor Dunlap wove together an analysis of Lacan, Tillich and Arendt with a look at pop culture productions such as the recent Hollywood blockbuster, Edge of Tomorrow.
Professor Dunlap has published several works on Jacques Lacan, including a recent book entitled, Lacan and Religion (Routledge, 2014).
Aron Dunlap joined Shimer College as an Assistant Professor of Liberal Arts in the fall of 2011, after teaching for two years at Temple University in Philadelphia. His scholarly work is focused on issues in literature and psychoanalysis, and he is currently working on a one-man show about the poet W.H. Auden featuring Auden lyrics set to song.
