Shimkat Motor Company Celebrating 70 Years With Raminator Event And Serving Our Servants (SOS) FundRaiser For Fort Dodge Police, Fire Department And First Responders
Fort Dodge, IA (PRWEB) March 15, 2017 -- A vision in 1947 by the Shimkat family to locate a Plymouth and Desota car dealership in downtown Fort Dodge today is continuing with the third generation selling Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram vehicles. Shimkat Motor Company is now located on 5th Avenue South which is called the Corridor of Commerce.
70 Years calls for a big celebration and that is exactly what Shimkat Motor Company will be hosting on May 6th. Highlighting the event will be the Raminator - the Guinness record holder for the fastest monster truck in the world.
This will be the second time that Shimkat Motor Company has brought in the Raminator. In 2015, over 3,000 people showed up to watch the Raminator crush cars and delight the audience. The public is invited to attend the event at no costs. Added this time will be a second truck that the public will actually be able to ride in the back. Costs for the ride in the back will be $1 for children and $3 for adults.
Giving back to the community has always been in the forefront of the Shimkat family and will continue with the May 6th event. A fundraiser to benefit the local Serving Our Servants (SOS) group will be held in conjunction with the festivities. All proceeds collected that day for rides in the truck will be given to the SOS group.
SOS provides services and support for the local Fort Dodge Police, Fort Dodge Fire Department, Webster County Sheriff Department, Iowa State Patrol and other First Responders. The organization was started in 2014 by the Rev. Al Henderson, of St. Paul Lutheran Church and is supported by a large group of community volunteers.
"Our community has been here for us for these 70 years and we cannot be more grateful," states Bruce Shimkat, second generation Shimkat Motor Company owner. "Organizations like SOS are what make Fort Dodge and the surrounding region special and a fitting benefactor of this fun event."
Shimkat Motor Company was recently one of only four dealers in Iowa to receive the Fiat Chrysler of America's Customer First Award for Excellence. Additionally, Bruce Shimkat was awarded the prestigious Catalyst Award this year for his leadership, commitment and community support.
