ShortStack Study Reveals Businesses Show No Signs of Bailing on Facebook in 2014
Reno, NV (PRWEB) January 29, 2014 -- ShortStack, a self-service custom app design tool, recently surveyed more than 570 active Facebook business Page users, asking about their plans for using the social network in 2014. The survey results revealed that 87 percent of Facebook admins plan on using Facebook more for their businesses this year, while only 12 percent plan on using Facebook the same amount or less than they did in 2013.
The survey also asked business owners about the actions they plan to take on their Facebook Page to interact with fans in the coming year. Eighty percent of admins said they will create a custom Facebook Page app in 2014 and 85 percent of admins said they will host a contest or promotion on their Page. Contests continue to be the most popular type of custom apps driving engagement and leads for businesses. Business Pages can choose to run their contests directly on the Facebook Timeline or use a third-party app provider, such as ShortStack, to create branded apps that allow for data collection and further marketing to a target audience.
Facebook encourages brands to use a third-party application when creating a promotion because apps allow for a more personalized experience. Apps also allow businesses to use Facebook in a more strategic way, for example, easily collecting fan data. According to Facebook, “Apps provide more space and flexibility for content than Page posts alone. Promotions run through apps can collect data in a secure, structured way that may be appealing to advertisers, particularly larger brands.”
ShortStack is the platform of choice for some of the biggest brands and celebrities on Facebook including NBC News, ZipCar, Newegg.com, Black and Decker, Mrs. Butterworth’s, Pitbull, Ford Racing and IGN. ShortStack offers monthly pricing plans ranging from Free to $300; the apps help businesses take their engagement and marketing efforts to new levels on Facebook and websites. ShortStack has more than 280,000 users and more than 500,000 custom apps have been built using the platform.
This survey was released after a recent study done by Princeton University claimed that Facebook will lose “80% of its peak user base between 2015 and 2017.” The study has been widely shared around the internet and many industry experts and publications have weighed in. Shortly after the Princeton study’s release, Time magazine’s Techland section featured an article explaining why the study is inaccurate. Among other criticisms of the Princeton report, the reporter notes that Facebook has strong bonds to publishers, advertisers and other businesses across the internet that are unlikely to dissolve soon. ShortStack’s study also shows that Facebook will continue to be a powerful tool for businesses.
