Shrader & Associates Offers $2000 Scholarship
Houston, TX (PRWEB) August 16, 2016 -- As attorneys who handle mesothelioma cases caused by toxic and negligent asbestos exposure, the team at Shrader and Associates spends a lot of time addressing some very dark issues on behalf of their clients.
Today, however, these lawyers get to think about something a little different: helping students pursue a brighter future. They’re launching a new, annual, $2000 scholarship program to demonstrate their commitment to the community and their passion for helping others.
Students who wish to compete for the scholarship must complete an essay which explains how they plan on using the scholarship. The essay should address their career goals, as well as how their future contributions will be beneficial to the communities where they live.
Applicants should discuss their current academic performance, share some information about their extra-curricular activities, and give details about their future educational plans. The award will be based both on the quality of the student’s submission and on the strength of the student’s goals, dreams, and vision for their future contributions.
There are no age limits or restrictions to prevent a student from seeking the scholarship, so long as the student plans to attend college. Even currently-enrolled college students may apply, so long as they have at least one more year of college to complete.
Scholarships open to college students are rare, as are scholarships open to high school freshmen and sophomores.
“You can even apply if you're in middle school, to be honest. We wanted to keep the field of opportunity as wide open as possible, so we put very few restrictions on eligibility.” explains Justin Shrader, the firm’s founding partner. “We’d love to see applicants from a wide range of backgrounds. We want to hear their stories, and we look forward to investing in their futures.”
Students may even send video submissions instead of essays if they prefer.
“Not everyone loves to write,” Shrader laughs. “But that doesn’t mean their future contributions can’t be meaningful and important.”
Shrader stresses that the form of the application will not be given any particular weight. "It's the content that matters."
The deadline for applications for the first award is August 1, 2017. Students may apply by visiting http://www.yourmesotheliomalawfirm.com/scholarship. This is an annual scholarship, which means students may apply continually in the hopes of receiving scholarship awards for subsequent years. The firm will contact winners directly upon making their decision. The scholarship may be used to pay for tuition, books, lab fees, room, board, or other expenses associated with the pursuit of a college degree.
