Shubert to Provide Ticketing for New National Geographic First-In-Kind Entertainment Experience in NYC
NEW YORK, NY (PRWEB) December 15, 2016 -- Shubert Ticketing, a leading provider of ticketing services and technology solutions for live entertainment attractions nationwide, announced today that it will provide ticketing for National Geographic ENCOUNTER: Ocean Odyssey, a first-in-kind entertainment experience located on West 44th Street in the heart of New York City.
The 60,000-square-foot venue is the first to involve National Geographic and will be located at 226 West 44th Street between Broadway and Eighth Avenue. That location, within both Times Square and the Theatre District, is a prime destination for millions of visitors to New York City every year. National Geographic ENCOUNTER: Ocean Odyssey is produced by SPE Partners, LLC, a New York-based entertainment developer, under a licensing agreement with National Geographic Partners. The creative team is comprised of Academy Award, Grammy, and Emmy-winning composers, sound engineers, and designers, as well as the Oscar-winning visual effects team behind HBO’s “Game of Thrones” and Martin Scorsese’s Hugo. Ground-breaking technology is used to create the ultimate, all-sensory entertainment experience in an awe-inspiring undersea environment.
Shubert Ticketing will be the exclusive provider of ticketing technology and distribution for the new experience, adding to Shubert’s existing roster of ticketing clients on Broadway and across the country.
In addition to Shubert’s innovative ticketing solutions at the box office, online, and by phone, National Geographic ENCOUNTER: Ocean Odyssey will be able to sell via in-venue kiosks and remotely through Shubert’s MobilePOP handheld sales device. This device allows tickets to be sold wherever the marketing and sales team deems advantageous, without being tied down to a stationary box office.
“We’re excited to be able to provide our comprehensive ticketing technology to SPE Partners and help bring National Geographic to the heart of New York City,” said David Andrews, Senior Vice President of Shubert Ticketing. “Adding such a prestigious client to the growing list of venues and attractions that use our powerful ticketing technology is very exciting, and we’re excited about bringing our passion for innovation to this new Times Square destination.”
Augmenting the powerful ticket sales products provided as part of this agreement, SPE Partners will also be tapping into Shubert’s vast ticket distribution network, which provides inventory and sales tools to consumer groups and the wholesale travel industry via specially developed software, as well as corporate distribution through Plum Benefits/TicketsatWork. These distributors will help National Geographic ENCOUNTER: Ocean Odyssey reach potential buyers in markets around the world.
“National Geographic’s long-standing prominence as a global leader in exploration and storytelling combined with Shubert’s historic presence in the New York entertainment and theatrical community create yet another dynamic element in this exciting venture,” says Alexander Svezia, co-founding partner of SPE Partners. “We are thrilled to bring together these two iconic institutions for the first time to launch this immersive experience that pushes the boundaries of entertainment in new directions."
National Geographic ENCOUNTER: Ocean Odyssey is scheduled to open in Fall 2017 and is anticipated to be an impressive and popular new fixture in Times Square and New York City.
