Sierra Regional Spine Institute Hires New Nurse Practitioner, Jerome Hicks, for Pain Management This December
Reno, NV (PRWEB) December 22, 2014 -- Sierra Regional Spine Institute hired a new nurse practitioner this month to help treat an increased volume of pain management patients due to the growth of the pain management program at the practice. Hicks was hired December 9.
Hicks comes to Sierra Regional Spine Institute after graduating from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2012 as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. Previously, he graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2006 as a Registered Nurse. He has also been published in the 2013 issue of the Journal of Emergency Nursing in the field of pediatric strokes.
Hicks has also been an active member of the National Guard since 1996 and currently holds the rank of Captain in the Nurse Corp. He plans to retire from the National Guard in 2016.
"We are very excited to have Jerome join our practice,” said Sierra Regional Spine Institute Practice Administrator Penny Forbes. “With Jerome’s help, we’re going to be able to increase the number of patients we can help with their pain management."
Hicks has also received a number of academic and professional awards and accolades, including Nursing scholarships, honors society memberships (Sigma Theta Tau and Phi Kappa Phi), the Army Spirit of Nursing Award, and certifications and decorations from military service.
Outside of the practice and the National Guard, Hicks is an ordained deacon, Self Aid Buddy Care instructor, has volunteered at the Veterans Administration, and has gone on several missions to provide nursing care to people in Cambodia.
