Sierra Tucson Partners with Supermodel EMME for #BodyBeaUtiful Campaign
TUCSON, Ariz. (PRWEB) January 30, 2016 -- Sierra Tucson, an internationally renowned leader in behavioral and mental health care, has joined forces with Supermodel and internationally recognized advocate for positive body image, EMME, for a six-month digital media campaign – #BodyBeaUtiful @SupermodelEmme. The campaign aims to shed light on the prevalence of body dissatisfaction, eating disorders, societal shame, guilt and fear.
Throughout the next six months, people are encouraged to get involved by sharing their own #BodyBeaUtiful stories and become part of the #BodyBeaUtiful conversation. Videos, messages and personal stories will reveal a collective voice emerging for body positivity and change to the current status quo. There also is an opportunity for individuals to become part of Supermodel EMME’s #BodyBeaUtiful documentary, to be released this summer.
"At Sierra Tucson, we see far too often the unfortunate role that negative influence and body perception can play in one’s life,” said Gayle Masterson, MD, director of the Eating Recovery Program at Sierra Tucson. “Sadly only a small percentage of the population that actually needs treatment receives it, and for those who do, it’s a long road to recovery restoring each person to wholeness and good health of body, mind and spirit.”
EMME and her team already have interviewed a diverse group of people, male and female, to specifically answer: What does your body want to say to the world? Their answers were refreshingly bold, honest, heartbreaking and real. Along with Sierra Tucson, Timberline Knolls, is a sponsor of the #BodyBeaUtiful campaign.
“This is an amazing opportunity to shine a spotlight on uncensored, raw stories around our bodies,” said EMME. “I’ve never heard the perspective of a body being asked a question about how they feel, but we certainly have learned they have a lot to say. Imagine waking up each morning and giving our reflection in the mirror a little wink for the incredible living, breathing body we’ve been given. If we can start imagining and working toward that end, and not dragging the sack of sins we call our body around all day, we can start moving positively in a new fulfilling direction. Then the possibilities are endless. As it is now, we are stuck, limited and have a distorted relationship with our bodies.”
