SignaWave Chooses Telrad Networks for Virginia LTE Internet Deployment
Lod, Israel (PRWEB) July 14, 2016 -- Telrad Networks, a global provider of TD-LTE broadband solutions, today announced that SignaWave, a wireless Internet Service Provider, has selected Telrad LTE solutions for a network upgrade to 4G LTE for a large, eight-county-wide network in Virginia, United States. The LTE network will make Internet, with higher speeds and higher reliability, available to residents and businesses across the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula coastal areas of Virginia.
With a network of over 5,000 customers, SignaWave has been serving customers with Internet since 2001. The area, which has been largely neglected by larger cable and fiber operators, lies in a coastal region and contends with non-line-of-sight (NLOS) challenges. NLOS occurs when wireless radio waves are partially obstructed by physical obstacles such as trees that can limit the connectivity of wireless radio transmissions, especially when utilizing low power equipment. The new Telrad-powered LTE network supports higher power connectivity and utilizes advanced technology to overcome many of these NLOS challenges, enabling SignaWave to reach more customers with better service.
SignaWave will be working over the next 18 months to replace 30 existing tower sites, currently running Wi-Fi equipment on 2.4 GHz and 900 MHz, with Telrad LTE in the 3.65 GHz band, starting with Gloucester and Essex counties. By using Telrad’s standards-based flagship BreezeCOMPACT 1000 base station, SignaWave expects to supply LTE service using these 30 sites to a coverage area that currently requires 125 tower sites using existing technology.
