Significant Insurance Findings by Irish Injuries Board Analysed By Evolution Legal

It has been revealed that 5,286 Irish residents lodged successful claims during the period from January to July 2013. This represents a 2% rise on the figure recorded during the corresponding period last year. It was also pointed out that the average payout increased from €21,502 to €22,349.
The analysts working for Evolution Legal said that the figures have been skewed slightly by a single payout totalling €976,000. They also revealed that there'd been a significant rise in the number of minor road injury claims made this year.

However, they pointed out that there are dangers of the industry gaining a ‘claims culture’ reputation due to issues spreading from not only Ireland, but around the world. The legal practitioners continued to draw the following points from the Irish Injury Board report:
• Processing fees paid by insurers have decreased from €850 to €600 per claim.
• The amount paid for processing has dropped from 9% to 8% in relation to the sums which successful claimants have received.
• A particularly high proportion of payouts were made to people living in the Irish counties of Limerick, Longford, Dublin, Louth and Carlow during the first six months of 2013.
A spokesperson for Evolution Legal said, “A mixture of positive and negative points emerged from the Irish Injury Board Report. We're really pleased that insurers are having to pay less in order to process individual claims. However, we've been alarmed by the number of people claiming compensation after road accidents.
“We believe that more needs to be done to improve the safety of the Irish roads. It is also important for people to resist the temptation of making bogus claims. However, we will do our utmost to ensure that legitimate claims are processed quickly and fairly.”
