Sika Roofing Announces Contractor Project of the Year Winners for 2017
CANTON, Mass. (PRWEB) February 13, 2018 -- Winners of the annual Contractor Project of the Year competition were announced today by Sika Roofing, the worldwide market leader in thermoplastic roofing and waterproofing membranes. Winners were recognized for outstanding workmanship in four categories: Low Slope, Steep Slope, Waterproofing and Sustainability for projects completed using a Sika thermoplastic membrane for roofing or waterproofing applications.

LOW SLOPE CATEGORY WINNERS
With so many fantastic Low Slope entries, two sub-categories were created: New Construction and Re-Roofing.
Bennett & Brosseau Roofing of Romeoville, Illinois, took home first place in the New Construction category for installing a beautiful Sarnafil® G 410 roof in Reflective Gray and adding a custom colored membrane to produce the Chicago flag on the city’s sparkling new Wintrust Arena. The second place winner in the New Construction category was Red Pointe Roofing of Orange, California, for the Five Point Gateway Campus in Irvine, California, which consisted of 1.06 million square feet on four separate buildings.
In the Re-Roofing category, San Antonio’s Beldon Roofing earned first place honors thanks to its massive 1.27-million-square-foot installation of Sarnafil membrane on the HEB Retail Service Center, also in San Antonio. Coatings Application & Waterproofing of St. Louis received a runner-up medal for its work on the Kaua’i Marriott Resort in Lihue, Hawaii. Rounding out the Low Slope Re-Roofing category was D.C. Taylor Company of Concord, California, which completed a successful installation of Sarnafil G 410 membrane on 100 & 200 Oracle Parkway in Redwood City, California.
STEEP SLOPE CATEGORY WINNERS
Alva Roofing Company of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was awarded first place for its work on the beautiful new Choctaw Nation Wellness Center in Durant, Oklahoma. The structure’s distinctive design features a barrel roof that continues all the way to the ground and actually produces a rare negative slope. Thermoset Roofing of Pompano Beach, Florida, was the second place finisher for the exquisite Baha Mar Resort in the Bahamas. EDA Contractors of Bensalem, Pennsylvania, was the third place finalist for its work on the Historic Reading Terminal/Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.
WATERPROOFING CATEGORY WINNERS
Bloxsom Siding & Roofing of Traverse City, Michigan, took first place in the Waterproofing class for its superb work on the Headlands International Dark Sky Park Waterfront Event Center and Observatory in Mackinaw City, Michigan. The company utilized Sarnafil G 410 membrane to help create an amazing green roof on the structure, which sits directly on the Lake Michigan shoreline. The second-place project was awarded to Chamberlin Roofing & Waterproofing for its remarkable waterproofing work on the historic Driskill Hotel in Austin, Texas. Recover Green Roofs (Somerville, Massachusetts) and Gilbert & Becker Company (Dorchester, Massachusetts) took third place thanks to their combined work on Boston’s Earls Kitchen + Bar.
SUSTAINABILITY CATEGORY WINNERS
In the Sustainability Category, HRGM Corporation of Washington, D.C., won for the Duke Ellington School of the Arts project. This stunning roof featured more transition and flashing details than any other roof the company had ever installed. In second place was Anderson & Shah Roofing of Joliet, Illinois, for delivering an impressive Sarnafil roof on Chicago’s McCormick Place North Building. In third place for this grouping was Nations Roof Mid Atlantic of Glen Burnie, Maryland, for its terrific work on a solar-ready roof on the Francis Scott Key Mall in Frederick, Maryland.
In all, more than 40 contractors from around the U.S. submitted projects for evaluation in the 2017 Sika Roofing Project of the Year competition. First place winners were awarded cash prizes, recognition at an awards dinner at last week’s International Roofing Expo and marketing support in the form or advertisements, social media and public relations.
