Silicon Mechanics to Highlight Research-Centered Offerings at Supercomputing 2014
(PRWEB) November 14, 2014 -- Silicon Mechanics, Inc. announces that it will showcase research-centered technology at the Supercomputing 2014 Conference & Exhibition, to be held November 16-21, 2014 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Representatives from Silicon Mechanics will be on hand in Booth #2623 to highlight how the company’s experts are focused on integrating solutions to meet the needs of today’s computational researchers. In addition, the booth will host presentations by Bright Computing, SwiftStack, Research Cluster Grant recipient Wayne State University (WSU), and experts from Silicon Mechanics on the zStax family of storage products. These four presentations will further illuminate the capabilities of Silicon Mechanics and its partners to provide the tools customers need in storage and high-performance computing to meet the challenges of modern research.
Representatives at the booth will discuss products designed for storage, high performance computing (HPC), cloud applications and GPU computing, critical elements in the company’s mission to provide integrated solutions for next-generation research.
“Silicon Mechanics is committed to supporting computation-centered research, particularly in higher education,” said Eva Cherry, President and CEO of Silicon Mechanics. “Much of our engineering and design work is dedicated to developing the highest quality computing solutions for modern researchers. We are excited to feature our latest products at SC14.”
In addition, the Silicon Mechanics booth will feature a presentation by software partner Bright Computing, whose cluster management software is central to customers’ effective, efficient use of Silicon Mechanics’ HPC clusters. Another presentation by SwiftStack will highlight the partnership between it and Silicon Mechanics to design and implement fully-integrated object storage platforms that meet customer requirements for availability, scalability and cost.
Researchers and administrators from WSU will speak about the impact the receipt of the 3rd annual Research Cluster Grant from Silicon Mechanics, and how it has opened the doors for vibrant collaboration, drastically improved research capabilities and processing speed, and allowed researchers to plan more complex, cutting-edge projects than ever before. Finally, experts from Silicon Mechanics will present on the newly-updated zStax line of enterprise-ready, software-defined storage (SDS) solutions.
The company will officially announce its 4th annual Research Cluster Grant at SC14, which for the first time this year will be awarded to two institutions of higher education. In addition, Silicon Mechanics is sponsoring the Massachusetts Green Team in the annual Student Cluster Competition.
