Silicon Valley Community Foundation to Host Innovation Conference for Community Foundations, Philanthropists
Mountain View, California (PRWEB) September 29, 2015 -- To increase awareness of the ways fast-paced technological change will affect local communities in the future, and to help build capacity for adapting to that change, next year Silicon Valley Community Foundation will host fellow community foundations, private foundations and philanthropists at its first-ever Innovation Conference, scheduled for October 9-11, 2016, in San Francisco.
“Silicon Valley is at the center of a technological revolution that is transforming our world. In this emerging new world, driverless cars, cloud computing, 3-D printers and wearable technology will fundamentally change how we live, work and play,” said Emmett D. Carson, CEO and president of SVCF. “How can and should community foundations adapt and respond to these profound changes?”
The Innovation Conference will address this and other questions, including those about the roles that community foundations will need to play in maximizing opportunities and minimizing hardships from this technological revolution for everyday people in their communities.
This one-of-a-kind conference will be an opportunity for community foundations and philanthropists from across the country and around the globe to elevate and address these critically important topics. The Innovation Conference will provide a unique platform to learn, share and inspire collective action among the participants.
The conference will be the first in a series of events by the SVCF Learning Institute, a newly launched nonprofit education and technical assistance arm of SVCF. SVCF is committed to safeguarding the health of communities within its region, across the nation and around the world. As such, SVCF intends that the SVCF Learning Institute will advance this mission by providing educational and networking opportunities for the organizations fundamental to improving the quality of life in their communities – community foundations.
Details about the Innovation Conference will be available by late 2015. An Advisory Board is being established to ensure the program will offer cutting-edge content that will encourage breakthrough thinking within the philanthropic community.
