Silicon Valley Movie Premiere - ‘¡Hola Venky!’
San Jose, San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) January 28, 2014 -- ‘¡Hola Venky!’ pays homage to the cultural spirit and business innovation that make Silicon Valley one of the fastest growing markets. It tells a story that could only take place in the high tech capital. The film narrates a divorced Indian engineer’s journey from Mumbai to Silicon Valley where he meets and falls in love with a Latina whose father was a Mariachi player. According to the film’s director, Sandeep Mohan, “We tried to capture the unique attributes that bring engineers to Silicon Valley—plentiful work, opportunity for personal growth, adventure and an openness to the mix of cultures.” Filled with with humor, the movie explores Venky’s life post-divorce and his struggle with the definition of masculinity in the modern world.
Collaborating for the third time, Mumbai-based Director Sandeep Mohan and California-based Producer Giju John spotlight Indian and Latin cultures in ‘¡Hola Venky!’. The film uses local talent to showcase the Bay Area. Roger Narayan (IMDB), an Indian-American actor, plays Venky and Sonia Balcazar (IMDB), a Mexican-American actress from San Jose, plays the role of Inez. In addition, the film showcases five musical groups with Bay Area ties including: Mariachi Tapatio (San Jose), Mariachi De Mi Tierra (Oakland) Salseology (UK, Previously of Oakland), Claire on a Dare (San Francisco) and Montuno Swing Salsa Band (San Francisco). Montuno Swing Salsa Band is led by Christian Tumalan who is a 2014 Grammy Award winner.
Finally, the ’¡Hola Venky!’ team pioneered a new blueprint of how movies are made and distributed. While the storyline is innovative, '¡Hola Venky!' uses several Silicon Valley tools to reach a larger audience including: social coupons, ‘traveling cinema’, on-demand distribution and crowdfunding.
