Silverado Aspen Park Rehabilitation Awarded 5-Star Rating by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid
Salt Lake City, Utah (PRWEB) January 30, 2014 -- Silverado Aspen Park Rehabilitation, in Salt Lake City, Utah, was recently awarded a 5-Star rating by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS). Aspen Park achieved five stars in every available category: Health Inspections, Nurse Staffing and Quality Measures, which includes clinical outcomes such as vaccinations, change in weight, pain reduction, and fall prevention.
The government rating applies to Silverado Aspen Park's skilled nursing care. The community is primarily known for providing world-class assisted living to people affected by memory loss diseases, but it is also licensed as a skilled nursing facility and offers a rehabilitation program.
As a skilled nursing facility, Silverado Aspen Park offers post-acute and extended care, medication management, intravenous (IV) therapy, pain management and wound care. It also prevents discharge issues, allowing Silverado to care for higher acuity needs without hospitalization of memory care community residents and extended-stay rehabilitation patients.
The CMS Five-Star Quality Rating System was established to help consumers, their families, and caregivers compare nursing homes more easily. Nursing homes with five stars are considered to have much above average quality.
According to CMS, the ratings are determined using the following:
• Health Inspection rating contains information from the last three years of onsite inspections, including both standard surveys and any complaint surveys.
• Staffing rating has information about the number of hours of care on average provided to each resident each day by nursing staff, and considers differences in the level of care needed.
• Quality Measures rating includes information on nine different physical and clinical measures. Data comes from the MDS Repository through an assessment done by the nursing home at regular intervals.
This is the second consecutive year Silverado Aspen Park has achieved a 5-Star rating. U.S. News and World Report also recognized Aspen Park for achieving the rating. For more information, please visit medicare.gov/nursinghomecompare.
