Simplifile Announces E-recording in Livingston County, Mich.
LIVINGSTON COUNTY, Mich. (PRWEB) April 24, 2014 -- The register of deeds’ office in Livingston County, Mich., is now e-recording documents through Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service provider.
E-recording is the process of recording documents via the Internet that would otherwise be sent by express mail, courier service, or delivered in-person by the customer at the county. According to Livingston County Register of Deeds Sally Reynolds, her office decided to start e-recording to alleviate postage costs and “eliminate the need for title companies to pick their documents up” after recording.
“E-recording provides faster, more efficient recording and return of documents,” Reynolds said.
In addition to a faster turnaround time for recorded documents, the county, along with their customers, also benefit from fewer payment errors, fewer rejected documents, and less overall paper waste.
E-recording also enables customers to securely submit payments for recording fees electronically via Automated Clearing House, eliminating the need to write and mail checks to the county.
Livingston County is Michigan’s 18th county to implement Simplifile’s e-recording service, joining more than 1,060 total e-recording jurisdictions nationwide.
