Simplifile Appoints Mark Ladd to VP of Regulatory and Industry Affairs
PROVO, Utah (PRWEB) November 07, 2014 -- Simplifile, the nation’s largest and leading electronic recording (e-recording) service provider, has appointed Mark Ladd to the position of vice president of regulatory and industry affairs. In this new role, Ladd will be responsible for monitoring regulatory activities and industry trends that could impact Simplifile and its customers.
“My primary goal is to ensure that Simplifile’s products and processes are legally compliant, so that our customers can continue to have a high level of confidence when working with us,” Ladd said. “I also want to represent the best interests of our company and our clients when new regulations are proposed at the local, state, or federal level.”
The regulatory affairs Ladd will oversee include federal, state and local initiatives that could have an impact on Simplifile’s recording business as well as future business expansion and line extensions. Industry affairs will include trade associations and standard-setting bodies that are affiliated with the land records, land title, and mortgage lending industries.
“Both aspects of this position reflect personal passions of mine,” Ladd said. “Unlike most sane people, I really enjoy the ‘sausage-making process’ that takes place in the legislative and regulatory arena.”
Ladd has more than twenty years of experience in e-recording and creating national technology standards for the mortgage and property records industries. He was also recently elected as president of the Property Records Industry Association (PRIA).
Ladd regularly attends industry events and conferences coast to coast for organizations including PRIA, the Mortgage Banking Association (MBA), and the American Land Title Association (ALTA).
“I get energized by the thought leadership these organizations provide our industry,” he added.
Before joining Simplifile in 2011 as director of channel sales, Mark acted as a consultant for PRIA on the PRIA Technology Committee. As part of his role with PRIA, Mark worked as the vice-chair of the Residential Governance Committee for the Mortgage Industry Standards Maintenance Organization (MISMO). He also served as register of deeds for Racine County, Wis., for eleven years.
