Simplifile Expands E-Recording in Towns of Durham and New Haven, Conn.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (PRWEB) September 23, 2013 -- The towns of Durham and New Haven, Conn., are now accepting electronic deeds and other land records submitted for recording through Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service provider.
“Customers can now record without ever leaving their office,” said Vincent Daniels, land records specialist in the Town of New Haven. “They no longer have to wait for documents to come back in the mail. They no longer have to pay other people to bring documents into our office to record. There are really no down sides to e-recording.”
With e-recording available, customers including title companies, banks, real estate attorneys, and others who submit documents to the town clerks’ offices for recording, will be able to quickly submit documents online through Simplifile’s secure, web-based service.
“Here in the New Haven Town Clerk’s office we make it a point to utilize any and all technological advancements when it comes to the recording of documents,” said Daniels. “E-Recording seemed to be the next logical step for us as well as the companies and people whom record with us.”
Durham Town Clerk Kim Garvis believes that e-recording will continue to become the “preferred method” of filing deeds with land records offices throughout the county.
“Customers are very tech-savvy today, and they expect to be able to conduct business utilizing the latest technologies,” Garvis said. “While e-recording is not mandatory at this point in time, it offers immediate advantages to both the customer and the town clerk’s offices.”
Some of the advantages Garvis shared were faster turnaround time for recordings and cost savings in lower postage fees and fuel consumption.
“My goal is to receive at least one e-recording every day,” Garvis said.
With the addition of New Haven and Durham, there are now six towns in the state of Connecticut that have adopted e-recording with Simplifile.
Nationwide there are nearly 960 recording jurisdictions that offer e-recording through Simplifile as a service to customers.
