Single Owner African and Military Collections to Feature at Kaminski Auctions July 10th Estate Auction
(PRWEB) June 30, 2016 -- Kaminski Auctions will bring two sessions of auction to the podium on July 10, 2016 starting at 10:00 am EST. Beginning with an estate auction that features a diverse array of exquisite prints, paintings, silver, Asian art and antiques, carpets, and an exceptional single owner collection of African tribal art specimens, as well as some mid century modern furniture.
The African collection includes Dogon, Senufo, Hemba, Ibo, Yoruba, Tiv, Songye, and Ding's figures and masks collected in California from 1930s to 1940s. Of particular importance is a Songye of Kifwebe carved figure with a scarified face, measuring 23 inches high estimated at $2,600-$3500. In addition there is a Nigerian Tiv large carved female figure measuring 46 ¾ inches high also valued at $2,600-$3,500.
The estate portion of the auction includes a Russian bronze of a Cossack on horse in full stride measuring 15 ¾ inches high on a marble plinth from a Connecticut estate and an important Persian Heriz carpet valued at $4,000-$7,000.
Mid century modern furniture highlights include an Adrian Pearsall chaise lounge, a Hans Olson for Mobel sofa, a pair of Milo Baughman chairs, and four Kofod Larsen penguin chairs all from a Massachusetts collection.
Other items of interest include a Nickelodeon company player piano with Lauter movement of Newark, N.Y. It is coin operated, with a stain glass panel on top and bottom and griffon front support legs. It is from the personal lifetime collection of Mark Avner of Lake Worth, FL and Buffalo, NY.
The estate auction will be followed by a military auction from the collection of Raymond Kyle Koscuik, originally from New York and later Hollywood, California. Starting in the 1960’s Mr. Koscuik amassed an extensive military collection which includes medals, insignia, uniforms, and other American and foreign military items.
Of particular interest is an 1860 Colt Army revolver, with matching numbers made in 1862 and valued at $2,500-$3,500, a collection of WWI German military medals which includes two ribbon bars with medals valued at $2,500-$3,500 and an important lot of four WWII Norman Rockwell posters to include: "Save freedom of worship," 1943; "Ours…to fight for / Freedom from fear," 1943; "Save freedom of speech / Buy war bonds," 1943; and "Ours to fight for / Freedom from want," 1943 estimated at $1,500-$2,500.
There is also a lot of six personal items belonging to German General Keppler, an economic advisor of Hitler, which includes a sword engraved with a coat of arms; a sword hanger; a pipe painted with the general's portrait; a spiked helmet; ashtray and diary estimated at $1,500-$2,500.
