Site 1001 Names Pete Fiacco Chief Technology Officer
San Clemente, Calif (PRWEB) March 20, 2018 -- Smart building software developer, Site 1001, announced today that it has named veteran technology executive Pete Fiacco as the company’s Chief Technical Officer. Fiacco, whose background includes more than two decades with software and technology startups, will head Site 1001’s software development, artificial intelligence and advanced R&D teams.
Fiacco’s background includes building and leading global engineering teams in technology sectors ranging from semiconductors and storage to autonomous vehicles and artificial intelligence. He co-founded and headed engineering for networking giant Emulex until its acquisition by Avago (now Broadcom) in 2014. Most recently, Fiacco served as CTO of GigaIO, a pioneer in Software Defined Infrastructure Fabrics for Machine Learning/Deep Learning and IoT/Edge Computing applications.

Site 1001 develops a software system designed to help buildings be more efficient, comfortable and safe while also lowering costs and extending the building’s life. It was originally a “skunkworks” project inside of one of America’s largest general contractors, designed as a tool to let building owners and operators use the information created during design and construction to help run the building more efficiently over its lifetime. Since spinning out of the general contractor in late 2016, the SIte 1001 has expanded into a full building performance and operations platform (BPOP) that takes core building information, live data from the major systems as well as sensors and IoT devices, and couples it with human-generated data such as work orders, repairs, maintenance records, etc. to create a continuously updated profile unique to the building. With it, building owners can identify areas and assets operating out of spec, highlight trouble spots, pinpoint costs centers, even predictively direct maintenance based on real time operational data.
Several months ago the company demonstrated an AI it calls “Carl” that will use Site 1001’s platform and coordinate the building’s systems so that the building could autonomously act to mitigate risks or prevent damage to itself. A building with “Carl” installed could, for example, detect a water leak in the wall, shut off the water to the leaky pipe and call a plumber to repair the leak long before water soaks through the wall and does far more damage.
