Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers Physician Wins 2015 BizTimes Health Care Hero Award
Milwaukee, Wis. (PRWEB) December 09, 2015 -- The Health Care Heroes awards salute the impact and the accomplishments of people and organizations that are making a positive difference in the community on the front lines of health care.
The physicians at SSCHC are key to the organization’s mission to provide quality, family-based health care for Milwaukee’s underserved and Hispanic population. Dr. Wilson has been with SSCHC for 13 years and is driven by this mission and the patients she sees.
“I am extremely grateful SSCHC nominated me for this award,” said Dr. Wilson. “I love working at SSCHC, and knowing I have made a difference in the lives of my patients motivates me.”
Although managing a medical and administrative role is challenging, Dr. Wilson loves practicing medicine too much to give it up. She enjoys Women’s Health, preventative medicine and taking care of chronic patients. Dr. Wilson is actively involved in her church and helped organize various community events, including a health fair where people could get screenings for blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol levels.
“Dr. Wilson is truly a health care hero in my mind,” said Julie Schuller, MD, executive director of SSCHC. “She cares deeply for her patients and is connected with the community beyond our clinic walls.”
This year, BizTimes Milwaukee named 15 winners in seven different categories. You can see the complete list at http://www.biztimes.com/hero. The winners will be recognized at a breakfast ceremony on Friday, Dec. 11 at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino from 7:30 - 9:30 a.m. Melinda Davenport, co-anchor at WISN 12 News, will emcee the event.
“On behalf of the entire BizTimes organization, we congratulate these winners, and thank them for their dedication and commitment to bettering our community,” said Dan Meyer, publisher of BizTimes Milwaukee. “It is people and organizations like these that make our community a great place to live and work."
