Skin Care Institute of Tulsa To Offer Food Intolerance Testing To Identify Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Migraines, Chronic Fatigue, Weight Gain & More
Tulsa, OK (PRWEB) July 24, 2014 -- Skin Care Institute in Tulsa is proud to announce that they will now be offering the Antigen Leukocyte Antibody Test (ALCAT), a blood test designed to detect and identify environmental and food intolerances, such as gluten intolerance, lactose intolerance, fructose intolerance, sensitivities to food additives and colorings, environmental toxins like molds, certain herbs and more.
These sensitivities are different than food allergies, though they can significantly decrease an individual’s quality of life as well as be the underlying cause of internal inflammation. Internal inflammation can result in gastrointestinal distress (such as nausea, constipation, vomiting and diarrhea) as well as numerous conditions that are triggered or worsened by food intolerances, such as difficulty losing weight, insomnia, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), migraines, chronic fatigue, rosacea, psoriasis, eczema, ADD/ADHD, depression, anxiety and more.
The ALCAT test works by incubating blood with potentially harmful agents. After a period of time, the change in number and size of leukocytes and platelets are re-examined. A patient is determined to be intolerant to an agent when the leukocytes in their blood have increased by 10% or more after exposure.
After Skin Care Institute facilitates the test, patients will receive a detailed report of their results as well as an informative packet titled “Understanding Your Results.” The practice can also coordinate phone calls with a dietician/nutritionist from ALCAT as well as monthly coaching calls for customized recipes and meal plans, though at a separate cost.
“The ALCAT test at Skin Care Institute can be a powerful tool in re-gaining or achieving optimal health and wellness, especially for those who have not been able to discern the cause of their health problems in the past,” says Judy Alexander, the Executive Spa Director of Skin Care Institute. “We’re excited to have ALCAT testing join our existing health and wellness services of reflexology, natural healing, naturopathy, Vitamin B-12 injections, The Standard Process® body purification program and more.”
