Skrillex is known for always putting on elaborate and large performances for his fans at live shows and this tour will be more of the same. The talented DJ is already scheduled to perform at several winter festivals and is booked to perform at Coachella, but will properly welcome his fans to the tour in May when he heads to the Zoo Amphitheatre in Oklahoma City, Okla. and it will run through July when he plays the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland, Maine. Skrillex will be joined on all 19 dates of the tour by What So Not and Milo & Otis, and will also be joined on various dates by Dillon Francis and DJ Snake. The announcement of the tour coincides with a new app that Skrillex released last week on Apple and Droid devices called “Alien Ride.”
Since venturing out on his own as a solo artist, Skrillex has had multiple successful albums. Both Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites and Bangarang have been certified platinum in the United States by the Recording Industry Association of America for selling more than a million copies. He has also released numerous singles that have found the same type of success as his albums including “Bangarang” featuring Sirah, “First of the Year (Equinox),” and “Make it Bun Dem.”
Skrillex is not only considered to be a popular artist by his fans, but he has also been honored by some of the most important people in the industry. He has won six Grammy Awards including three wins in five nominations in 2011 when he was nominated for “Best New Artist,” but won "Best Dance/Electronica Album", "Best Dance Recording", and "Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical,” awards.
When Skrillex heads out on this 2014 tour, he will be heading to many of the most popular venues for electronic music shows in the United States including the Mid America Center in Omaha, Nebr.; Masonic Temple in Detroit, Mich.; Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Md.; and the Red Rock Amphitheatre in Denver, Colo., where he will play two shows in June.
