Skydrop, LLC Wins Utah Innovations Award for 2014
Salt Lake City, Utah (PRWEB) May 15, 2014 -- The Skydrop™ sprinkler controller has been awarded the Utah Innovations Award in the Outdoor and Consumer Products category. The Utah Innovations Awards, presented by Stoel Rives LLP and the Utah Technology Council, recognize the top innovations in Utah and the companies responsible for them.
The Skydrop controller is a smart sprinkler controller that helps homeowners eliminate overwatering and save money. By using an internet connection, the Skydrop controller adjusts to a home’s watering needs based on up-to-date local weather information to help save time, water, and money. The Skydrop controller replaces an existing sprinkler controller and can be managed directly from a mobile device or web browser.
“(It) will talk to our cloud service (and) pull down weather information as it’s happening,” said company co-founder Clark Endrizzi. “It knows when to water, when not to water, and takes (the process) out of your hands.”
Endrizzi also explained that the Skydrop controller is expected to hit shelves in local home improvement stores sometime this summer. The Skydrop controller is also available for preorder online now at http://www.skydrop.com.
The Utah Innovation Awards highlight companies who are creating cutting-edge, groundbreaking technology in their specific fields. The innovations recognized at the 12th annual Utah Innovation Awards ceremony were selected by 60 government and academic experts from various fields.
Richard Nelson, president and CEO of the Utah Technology Council, explained, “(The event) allows this great community of innovators to tell their stories.”
Over 100 finalists were selected for the Utah Innovations Awards this year. The winners received their awards at a sold-out luncheon at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center.
