Skyline Wellness Center Announces Evolution to Integrated Health Care
Alexandria, Virginia (PRWEB) July 12, 2013 -- Today, Skyline Wellness Center announced the evolution of their clinic into an Integrated Health Care facility, enabling patients to have direct access to chiropractors, physical therapists, acupuncturist, massage therapists, medical doctors, psychotherapists and other health care practitioners. All health care professionals at Skyline Wellness Center will work together to find the right solution to enhance patients' health, focusing first on a natural approach to achieve wellness.
"Health care has been plagued by practitioners working separately, even at times working against each other due to their own bias. We want to change that and give patients control of their own health. Our approach is to be inclusive and work with multiple practitioners in an intimate setting to coordinate patient care effectively. We do not think that traditional medicine and CAM (Complementary and Alternative Medicine) should be mutually exclusive. Ultimately, Integrated Health Care is more effective and less expensive for patients than using an isolated approach. Our goal is to keep patients healthy, active and out of hospitals," said Dr. W. Jean-Luc Sansfaute, Clinic Director at Skyline Wellness Center.
Integrated Health Care is defined by the World Health Organization as "The management and delivery of health services so that clients receive a continuum of preventive and curative services, according to their needs, over time and across different levels of the health system."
At the heart of Skyline Wellness Center’s vision is a coordinated approach between traditional medical practitioners and CAM providers. Care is usually managed by a provider who takes responsibility for close communication and collaboration among all members of a patient's health care team -- chiropractors, physical therapists, massage therapists, medical doctors, psychotherapist and other health care practitioners -- as well as with the patient and family members. The goal is to ensure optimal care and better overall wellness to all patients.
"The days of having to choose between your traditional medical doctor and an alternative health care provider are over. We expect the new service delivery model to be rolled out before the end of 2013 in our Alexandria, Virginia location. We are already looking at other sites in the Washington area to add to our family of health care facilities," said Ivan Santos, President and Health Care Industry Lead at SOTNAS, the management company behind Skyline Wellness Center. "We are helping Skyline Wellness Center be an agent of change in the delivery of health care across the Washington, D.C. area."
