SME Recognizes Six Influential Manufacturing Leaders and Researchers with Annual International Honor Awards
DEARBORN, Mich. (PRWEB) June 08, 2015 -- SME, a leader in workforce development and knowledge within manufacturing, recently recognized six individuals from industry and academia with its 2015 International Honor Awards. Five of the honorees received their awards during SME’s International Honor Award & Scholarship Presentations Ceremony June 1 in Detroit.
These particular awards are designed to highlight and acknowledge the impact being made in the areas of manufacturing technologies, processes, technical writing, education, research and management, as well as service to SME. The work and research performed by this year’s awardees has impacted automation, lasers, machining, welding, microscale process modeling and many other areas of manufacturing. In addition, SME recognized a longstanding member for his leadership, volunteer services and dedication to the organization.

• Joseph A. Siegel Service Award ― James P. Healy, LSME (Retired)
• SME Frederick W. Taylor Research Medal ― Yung C. Shin, PhD, FSME, Purdue University
• SME Albert M. Sargent Progress Award ― Fengzhou Fang, PhD, FSME, Tianjin University
• SME Education Award ― Elijah Kannatey-Asibu Jr., PhD, FSME, University of Michigan
• SME Gold Medal ― Shiv G. Kapoor, PhD, FSME, University of Illinois
