Smilegate Entertainment has officially announced the details of the CROSSFIRE Elite League of two major regions. The announcement regarding the start of BRAZIL & WEST CFEL 2020 Season 1 was made on April 17th, 2020.

In the case of Brazil, the opening round will take place on the evening of April 17th (local time) and this year new teams such as Bompton and EZ4N will participate against the current powerhouses of Brazil VINCIT Gaming, Black Dragons, and Imperial. In addition, Brazil’s successful journey in last year’s CFS has called the attention of many fans around the world and they have a high expectation towards this year’s professional league.

In the case of WEST CFEL 2020 Season 1, the participation of teams from the MENA region will increase the intensity of the league as they fight against powerful North American and European teams who had a strong streak during CFS 2019. Some teams to take note of are GOLDEN V and All Talents from Europe, Lazarus from North America, Anubis Gaming & LCK from the MENA Region. Moreover, the participation of LOTO GAMING from South America has received great attention as they join the fight with a new roster.

The group stage, playoffs and finals of the tournament will all take place online. The group stage will be administered in a double round robin and all teams will play a total of 14 games until June. The 4 teams with the highest scores will advance to the playoffs and the remaining 4 teams will fight against the top teams of the second division for a spot in the next season. The total prize pool for Brazil will be of 60,000 BRL and 25,000 USD for the WEST region.

Smilegate Entertainment commented that despite the shrink of overall esports competitions due to the COVID-19, CROSSFIRE will hold their professional league with all due precautions in place both for the safety and career of the player.

“Every year, before the CFEL starts we try our best to meet with professional players and discuss important points regarding the professional elite league, but this year due to the COVID-19, we had no other choice than to begin the league without a prior meeting with the players,” said Brady Yeo, Head of CROSSFIRE esports in Smilegate Entertainment. “Amidst the current situation around the world, we are delighted that we can hold this tournament as our promise to the players and we will do our best to ensure the safety for all of our players and fans.”
